I Hacked RSS Feeds With AI (And Cut My Reading Time By 90%)

After automating newsletter processing, I turned the same techniques on RSS feeds. This workflow reads 50+ sources and only sends me what matters.

Remember my $0.16 newsletter automation that processes Gmail and surfaces key insights? I just applied the same approach to RSS feeds - with even better results.

47 active RSS subscriptions across tech blogs, AI publications, and business resources. Each day brought 200+ new articles. Three hours of manual scanning to separate signal from noise. Most content completely irrelevant to my work in AI and business automation.

This required a fundamentally different approach than my newsletter system. RSS feeds need dynamic source management, intelligent content filtering, and full article extraction - capabilities my Gmail-based workflow couldn't provide.

The solution: a dedicated RSS intelligence system with three key innovations that make it superior to traditional feed readers.

Why RSS Needed A Different Solution

RSS feeds present unique challenges that newsletter automation doesn't address:

Dynamic Source Management: RSS feeds change frequently. I needed a system where adding new feeds or pausing sources takes seconds, not workflow modifications.

Content Variety: Unlike newsletters with consistent formats, RSS feeds mix everything from product announcements to deep technical analysis. Relevance filtering becomes critical.

Incomplete Content: RSS feeds provide only headlines and snippets. Meaningful summaries require full article extraction.

These requirements demanded new technical approaches beyond what email processing could offer.

The Three Core Innovations

1. Google Sheets Feed Management

RSS sources live in a dynamic spreadsheet with columns for:

  • rss_feed_url - The actual feed URL

  • website - Human-readable source name

Adding new RSS sources takes 30 seconds. No code changes, no workflow modifications. Just add a row to the spreadsheet and the system automatically includes it in the next processing cycle.

2. Intelligent Article Database

Every processed article gets logged to a comprehensive tracking system with:

  • Article URL and title

  • Classification result (relevant/not relevant)

  • Summary status and content

  • Timestamps of article publication and when it was processed

This prevents duplicate processing when articles remain in feeds for weeks and provides searchable history of all content decisions.

3. Jina AI Content Extraction

This is the breakthrough technology that turns an insane amount of RSS data into something meaningful. Jina AI converts any web page into clean, LLM-ready markdown:

  • Bypasses formatting issues and ads

  • Extracts complete article content beyond RSS snippets

  • Handles paywalls and complex page structures

  • Returns structured text perfect for AI analysis

  • Processes 1 million tokens monthly for free

Full content access enables summaries that capture nuance impossible with feed snippets alone.

Inside, you'll discover:

🎯 The Zero-Code Architecture that processes unlimited RSS feeds automatically - add new sources in 30 seconds without touching any code or workflows

🧠 The AI Filtering Secret that eliminates 70-80% of irrelevant content before you even see it, while ensuring you never miss what matters to your specific field

💰 The complete workflow configuration that makes this possible, a $39 value, completely for free for paid subscribers.
